Lee's experience with his own treatment has had a decisive impact on his involvement with the juicer. In 1979, when he visited a medical clinic because of heart problems, he found himself unable to find a cure for his illness. While feeling down, he visited the church at his wife's recommendation and the pastor recommended a diet of raw foods and brown rice. Because of this, he became a natural devotee, and he started studying diet, and by chance he met a patient at the end of liver cancer. While he was explaining his treatment experience, he mentioned that drinking 'green juice' meant that the blood would be cleansed. The patient had a therapeutic effect of eliminating dehydration in four days. Most of the patients with severe hepatocellular carcinoma who he subsequently met were treated the same way, and Lee became obsessed with natural diets and body physiology.
Lee says "To drink fresh juice is to eat the minerals, vitamins and enzymes that are in vegetables and fruits. Simply by juicing, you will digest and absorb 67% of the nutrients, but if you just chew, you will only get 16%." He continues, "The juicers on the market in the early 1980s were expensive but with frequent breakdowns, nutrient destruction, and poor extraction. So, in 1982, I went into the development of a juicer and finished in two years."
At that time, the main customers who were looking into juicing were those who did not find satisfactory treatment at the clinic. Domestically, there was no research or accumulated data on fresh juice and it had not been recognized as modern medicine, but many patients sought out fresh juice.
Angel Juicers were increasingly recognized, and the domestic market was opened. As latecomers came aboard in the 1990s, the company rose to the top marker with a 40% share of the juicer market. In 1994, however, met turbulence when metal powder was found to have leaked. Lee, who left for the United States at the time, opened a health seminar at the recommendation of a pastor of a Korean American church and resumed to aid in the recovery of many US patients with incurable diseases with the study and spread of natural remedies at the training center. During this period, the metal powder issue was revealed as a miscommunication with the media and Lee and his wife returned to Korea to restore their reputations.
Starting again from scratch, Lee started to develop a new juicer while recovering patents and trademark rights through litigation. The new Angel Juicer had an upgraded performance with a better design than the past. In particular, all interior and exterior materials were made of 100% stainless steel.
Lee said, "I will add a point to whether the juicing actually helps. Plastic parts that are harmful to the human body found in juicers are absolutely not okay. Moreover, the juicer should be able to extract 100% of the detoxifying nutrients that vegetables and fruits have."
He succeeded in recovering from a long period of hardship. He recently opened the Natural Healing Research Institute on September 2, and has been working as a health evangelist. The program is conducted for three weeks each month for those who are ill and those who are simply interested in health.
Lee said, "I have been learning new things while consulting with the ill for the past thirty years. There was a child who suffered from epilepsy. After substituting meals with freshly extracted juice, I was informed that the seizures had disappeared. In addition, a patient with a liver abscess in Kyungsan received judgement from the hospital that they returned to a normal state after three months of juicing with kale. Several pairs of infertile patients also saw effects from juicing."
He added, "Fruit is a body cleanser, an energy supplement, and vegetables can be seen as treatments. I am convinced that the effects of fruit and vegetables are superior to those of any scientist. The body has the ability to recover by itself, and when the function is paralyzed, disease comes. Fruits and vegetables play the role of helping the body to recover. The combination of white blood cell activity, liver, pancreas, kidney, endocrine, and exocrine immune functions is a natural healing power."
